Kays of Juliaetta and Miss Hazel Pearson of Myrtle, Nez Perce county, were married last Saturday evening at 7:30 at the Presbyterian manse in this city, Rev. J.C. Abels officiating. From the Genesee News, May 8, 1908 Sunday, April 26, Grover Kays and Miss Hazel Pearson, of Myrtle, sprang a great surprise on their acquaintances in Juliaetta when they went to Moscow and were quietly married. Monday evening they were given a rousing serenage. The groom is a brother of Mrs. O.U. Niles and is well and favorably known in this entire community. The bride is a very popular young lady of the Myrtle section, being a sister of the Mr. Pearson who conducts a store at Basalt. The young couple will make their home in Juliaetta until the coming fall.

My great-grandfather, Charles Nicholas Hermann(b. 8-9-1876), farmed outside of Genesee until his untimely death on Sept. 2, 1934. He was married to Lena Tonning and had several children, including Clifford, Clinton, Blanche, etc....I'm interested in any information about him and his family prior to his death. We know that he came with his parents, Jacob & Clara Herrmann, from Germany in approximately 1883. My uncle, Jim Hermann, still farms that land outside of Gemesee.
