Sophia Harpole Long a Genesee Resident, Dies

GENESEE -- Sophia M. Harpole, a long-time Genesee resident, died yesterday evening at Paradise Villa aged 88.

She was born Sept. 14, 1886, at carroll County, Iowa. She married Claude Harpole in Gensee Oct. 30, 1923. The couple owned and operated a poultry farm in Eugene, Ore. for many years. They reitred in 1962 and came back to Genesee. Harpole died in 1972.

She was a member of the Genesee Catholic Church.

As survivors she leaves two sisters, Mrs. Gerhard Broemeling, Canada; Mrs. Helen Ingle, Denver; a brother Pete Kries, Spokane; and several nieces and nephews.

Rosary will be said tomorrow night at 7:30 at the Genesee Catholic Church. Mass will be said at 10 a.m. on Friday at the church. Father Urban Schmidt will officiate. Burial will be in Genesee Catholic Cemetery.

Short's Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
